Redeemer Sports Ministry exists to enhance RBC’s Mission Statement to “know, love and serve Jesus,” by developing outreach leagues/events in sports and recreation for men and women (and, in time, youth).  The Sports Ministry has four specific goals … 1.  Cultivate fellowship within the body of Christ, and initiate relationships with unchurched/unsaved people;  2.  Create evangelistic opportunity that would incorporate personal testimony and the sharing of the gospel;  3.  Contribute to the discipleship journey of the believer;  4.  Assimilate participants into the body life of Redeemer – and engage them in service to the church.

What: A new avenue within RBC Sports Ministries to include adult co-ed pickleball. Court times will be scheduled for informal pick-up games for beginner to advanced players.

When: Given Arizona weather for playing outdoors, we expect the season to run from October through April or May with breaks during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Who: Both adult men and women, together or in foursomes of each who want to learn the game or who already play and love it who attend Redeemer Bible Church and their invited (hopefully unchurched) guests.

Where: Depending on the number of available courts and player interest, we will schedule weekly court times at Pioneer Park in Queen Creek (23 free, reservable courts) or Arizona Athletic Grounds in SE Mesa (41 reservable courts at $8 per hour per player). AAG is also the current venue for RBC basketball and softball seasons.  

Equipment and Cost: Players must provide their own paddles, outdoor pickleballs and water. There will be no fee charged by RBC, but as noted above there is a court fee for time played at AAG.  

Scheduling: Subject to RBC event conflicts, court availability and the number and day/time preferences of interested players, we are preliminarily looking at an evening time on Mondays and a morning time on Fridays beginning in October. Because pickleball courts are popular during our planned season, it would be very helpful to gauge interest as soon as possible and get courts scheduled as far out as possible.

Would you like to improve your overall fitness, and increase strength and stamina? Ladies’ Functional Fitness will use circuit training with weights – meaning you will work on major muscle groups moving from one group to another (i.e. in a circuit). Competent instructors will be there to help you create your individual program to increase your fitness level. As all Sports Ministry activities, this will be a time of perspiration and inspiration as we seek to grow physically and spiritually. THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO INVITE THAT UNCHURCHED NEIGHBOR OR FRIEND.
